Head of Restructuring, Middle East

Mihir Bhatt is the Head of Restructuring for the Middle East. Mihir leverages 20 years of experience and will oversee Kroll’s restructuring capabilities and growth strategy in the region. He brings significant expertise across the transaction and financial advisory spectrum, having led execution-focused roles across debt restructuring, operational improvement, turnaround and M&A.

Prior to joining Kroll, Mihir was with the professional services company PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). He joined the firm as a graduate in Australia, moved to London, and then to the Middle East where he was responsible for the origination, technical delivery and building new relationships within their Restructuring and Deals team. He supported the growth of the team from its infancy to over 35 professionals.

Mihir has worked extensively across many major Middle East markets, including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Egypt and Bahrain.

His notable clients include the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), Saudi Binladen Group and Dubai World. Projects include:

  • Capital restructuring options for a multi-billion-dollar state-owned real estate developer in the Middle East.
  • Advised a prominent Middle East shareholder on their optimized exit strategy for a multi-million-dollar investment in the hotel sector, and contingency planning for an overseas insolvency process.
  • Led the implementation of a complex liquidity optimization strategy for a government-owned group of companies.
  • Served as the lead financial restructuring advisor to Drydocks on their $2.2 billion debt restructuring, liquidity needs assessment, contingency planning and full implementation of the Decree 57 process via the DIFC courts.

Mihir has worked across several sectors including real estate, construction, manufacturing and services, and has extensive experience working with government and government-related entities, including sovereign wealth funds, private equity and financial institutions in the region.

Mihir holds a postgraduate qualification as a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. He has a B.A. in Commerce Accounting from Macquarie University in Australia.

Contributing regularly to the industry’s thought leadership, his expertise in restructuring and working capital has been noted in several industry conferences and publications.
