Michael brings more than 25 years of professional experience in the Consumer & Retail sector, working across diverse geographies including UK & Western Europe, North & South America, Emerging Europe, Middle East, Africa and HK/China/SE Asia. His experience includes public and private M&A, strategic advice, growth capital raises, equity and debt capital markets and structured capital. Michael has worked with large FMCG companies, mid-size and family-owned businesses and private equity firms and financial investors focused on the Consumer & Retail sector, as well as founders.
Previously, Michael worked at Houlihan Lokey as Managing Director in the Consumer, Food & Retail Group, based in London. Before that, he was at William Blair, where he was Managing Director, European Consumer & Retail Investment Banking, responsible for transaction origination and execution across the European consumer landscape.
Michael has also worked at Jefferies, where he was European Co-Head of Consumer and Retail Investment Banking and The Royal Bank of Scotland/ABN Amro, as a Managing Director in the Consumer Industries Group.
He began his investment banking career at Credit Suisse First Boston in 1996, focusing on M&A, capital raising and corporate finance advice for consumer goods clients.
Michael holds an M.Sc. in Accounting and Finance from The London School of Economics and Political Science and Bachelors of Commerce and of Laws Degrees from the University of Auckland.
