Prior to joining the firm, Ian was a partner at KPMG in their Valuations practice for over 26 years. Most recently, he was a member of KPMG’s Global Valuations Leadership Committee and Head of Valuations for KPMG in Asia Pacific (ASPAC). He has significant experience with respect to infrastructure assets, having been the lead valuations partner for AMP Capital, Hasting Funds Management and Macquarie Funds.
Ian also has a proven track record in managing large complex engagements with multiple stakeholders involved. He has led major valuation and fairness opinion projects for both the NSW and the federal government in relation to state and federal-owned businesses and assets, including major projects in relation to nbn and the NSW Department of Education.
Previously, Ian has also worked with infrastructure clients which include CBA, Challenger, Colonial FirstState, ConnectEast, CP2, CPPIB, Campus Living Villages, DP World, Investec, MTAA, NSW State Super, Palisade, REST, TIF, UTA and clients of Whitehelm Capital. In his recent years, Ian has prepared independent expert reports for Boart Longyear, AMP Capital Diversified Property Fund, Fort Street Real Estate Capital, Webster Limited, Woolworths, Aveo Group, AHG, Amcor, Propertylink and Investa Office Fund.
Ian received a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University and a Master of Commerce from the University of NSW. He is a member and an Accredited Business Valuation Specialist of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand. Additionally, he is a senior fellow of the Financial Securities Institute of Australasia and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. In 2023, Ian was appointed as Vice Chairman of the IVSC Standards Review Board.
