Howard is the author of several books on the subjects of corporate finance and valuation published by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada, including: Shareholder Value (2018); Strategic Acquisitions (2015); Selling a Private Company (2014) and Business Valuation (2012). He is also the editor of Corporate Finance for Canadian Executives (2007) and a contributor to Canada Valuation Service (periodical), both published by Thomson-Carswell.
Prior to his investment banking career, Howard held senior management positions in industry. He has also served on the board of directors for public and private companies, various professional and regulatory bodies and not-for-profit organizations.
Howard was awarded a Fellowship from the Ontario Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Certified Management Accountants of Ontario (both now part of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada), as well as a Fellowship from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators. In addition, Howard holds the designations of Certified Public Accountant (Illinois), Chartered Financial Analyst, Accredited Senior Appraiser (business valuation), Chartered Director and the Corporate Finance qualification. Howard earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University (Governor General’s Award, 1988), a Graduate Diploma in Public Accountancy from McGill University (Kenneth F. Byrd Prize, 1989), a Master of Business Administration from McMaster University (D.M. Hedden Gold Medal, 1992) and a Doctor of Business Administration from the W. Edwards Deming School of Business at William Howard Taft University.
Howard is an Exempt Market Dealer and is a FINRA Series 63 and 79 registered representative.
